SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 5

Requesting the West Virginia division of highways to name the new
bridge, number 4159, at Taylorville, Mingo County, West
Virginia, the "Wirt Marcum Memorial Bridge".
Whereas, Wirt Marcum was a prominent citizen and businessman
of Taylorville, Mingo County, West Virginia, who ironically had
owned the property surrounding the new Taylorville bridge; and
Whereas, Wirt Marcum was a civic-minded citizen of West
Virginia who contributed much to society through his active
involvement with the less fortunate; and
Whereas, Sadly, Wirt Marcum passed away December 4, 1990, a
loss to the Taylorville community and Mingo County, West
Virginia; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby requests the West Virginia
division of highways to name the new bridge, number 4159, located
at Taylorville, Mingo County, West Virginia, the "Wirt Marcum
Memorial Bridge" as a lasting memorial to an outstanding and compassionate West Virginian; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the commissioner
of the West Virginia division of highways.
